休士頓火箭隊當家控衛林書豪，於季後賽系列戰第2場時，不慎撞傷右胸導致投籃出現問題，雖然第3戰勉強出賽，但表現仍不盡理想，隨後接連休兵2場，將回到自家主場進行第6戰，林書豪則「趕進度」，加緊練習並調整狀況，希望能在第6戰出賽。

林書豪本季首度因傷缺賽，連續缺戰的2場比賽，火箭仍是靠著替補球員比佛利(Patrick Beverley) 與布魯克斯(Aaron Brooks)，成功撐起後場指揮官的角色，成功力克雷霆，將戰局延伸到第6戰，免除遭到橫掃的噩夢，重新燃起「老八傳奇」的求勝欲。

近日林書豪也趁著休兵期間，加緊練習希望能在第6戰復出，繼續為球隊拚戰，然而先前林書豪也曾提到傷勢的狀況，他說，「需要確保傷勢不會在比賽中惡化，所以我需要在賽前進行投籃訓練，並測試身體能否接受碰撞，然後隊醫就會做出判斷。」

對此，總教練麥克海爾(Kevin McHale)也認為林書豪的狀況越來越好，「林書豪想打，這是一個基於保護的原則，如果他不能保護自己，那我認為他也沒辦法發揮得很好，更別提下場比賽。目前我覺得他越來越好，能夠承受的事情更多，我們會繼續幫助他。」
